After the first meeting with politician, Dr. Jitendra Awhad, a second meeting was scheduled for 8th of June, 2025 - 12.30 PA at the Cosmos Lounge Club House.
Key points discussed: (as shared by Mr. Nitin Singh)
1. Cost Escalation:
Dr. Awhad raised concerns over the project’s cost increase from ₹16,600 Cr to ₹18,830 Cr, demanding greater transparency.
2. Environmental Impact:
He highlighted the irreversible environmental damage and the loss of ecological balance within Sanjay Gandhi National Park due to the current alignment.
3. Alignment Extension Needed:
He supported residents’ demand for extending the tunnel alignment up to Uniabex or Ghodbunder Road, stressing that if the project passes through dense residential zones, minimum disruption to residents must be ensured.
4. Political Action Assured:
Dr. Awhad assured the gathering that he would personally take up the matter with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and also discuss the concerns with Dr. Sanjeev Mukherjee, I. A. S - MMRDA Commissioner for further intervention.
5. Appreciation for Residents Involvement:
He appreciated the residents for taking from their personal commitments to stand united for this common cause and urged them to I continue voicing their concerns constructively.
The meeting was highly engaging, with active participation from residents of Mulla Baug, Neelkanth Woods, Neelkanth Greens, The Verraton, Shree Satya Shankar Complex, and Cosmos Lounge.
