👥 Residents Meet at Neelkanth Woods: 01-09-2024
Time: 6.30 PM
Venue: Verraton Club, Neelkanth Woods
Message by Mr. Sharad Varaskar -
A meeting of all the project affected residents was held to apprise about the efforts taken till date by the core team in respect of the Tunnel related issues and the present status of discussion with the authorities and to decide upon future course of action.
Given that the Ganesh festival starts early next week, this meeting was called on a short notice. Click here to see the list of attendees for the meeting. The summary is as follows:
- The Thane Borivali link alignment cannot be changed.
- It was explained how the present traffic Road circulation plan of MMRDA does not separate the Thane Borivali bound traffic and the local traffic at different levels. Hence, MMRDA has been requested to re-assess the said traffic circulation plan.
- MMRDA has engaged a consultant to reassess the traffic circulation plan.
- The present traffic circulation plan is "at grade" and doesn't address the issues of pedestrian and local vehicular traffic crossing.
- We have requested MMRDA to consider Thane Borivali traffic to be taken totally underground. In case of any feasibility issue, second option is to take it elevated.
- Other issues like noise, air, dust pollution on the road due to excavated muck hauling etc will be taken care of as per the approved Environment Management Plan (EMP).
- Toll plaza issue is also proposed to be addressed with automated toll collection system.
- A core team has been formed to represent on behalf of all the Project Affected People.
- It's time now to form an officially registered association to take the matter ahead with the concerned authorities.
- We are also taking help of our hon MP, TMC Commissioner and hon CM to address our issues.
- The one and only focal point issue, which is of prime importance, is request for "grade separation" in the traffic circulation plan. Request all to be united on this and everyone present for the meeting have unanimously agreed to this.
- Request all residents to not to make individual representations and complaints in tunnel related matters with government authorities as this diverts our prime issue.
- It was decided to seek media attention as and when required.
- The core team is moving ahead with a very positive mindset and an optimistic approach. Hence, messages with negativity, pessimism and misinformation on group should be scupolously avoided.
- If any resident has a suggestion or any value addition, can get in touch with any of the core team members
